斗六繪本圖書館

    由於這學期系上課程，得以有機會來到斗六繪本圖書館來實習。起初，我對這間繪本圖書館沒有什麼印象，以為只是個供小孩子欣賞繪本的地方。但來到這裡之後，先是對其外觀大吃一驚，不知道的人會誤以為這裡是一間很華麗的幼稚園，像童話故事般那樣的建築居然會出現在現實生活裏。  

    I am happy to be an intern here in the Douliu Picture Book Library owning to the required course in my department. To begin with, I don’t have any idea about this picture books library, and it serves as a place for children to read the picture books in my opinion. As I step forward into the library, the building shocks me because it looks like a fancy kindergarten which is only from the storybook. You may take it wrong way if you don’t know it.

    來實習的第一天當然非常緊張，整個人都僵住而不知所措，但透過館員以及其他實習生的介紹，我慢慢熟悉這裡環境，也熟悉館內的工作。館內的藏書量不少，其中很多都是供小孩子閱讀，尤以繪本為最大宗。每天造訪繪本圖書館的人也大多數為兒童或青少年，來到這裡實習看著他們享受閱讀就很有成就感。

    It is so nervous to be an intern for the first day, and I am just rooted to the ground. With the introduction and a brief tour guide from the librarians and the interns there, I come to familiar with the library and its tasks. The book collection in the library is abundant for various people, including the picture books written for the children and teenagers. The visitors to the library are children and adolescents with their parents. It is a great pleasure to see them enjoy the reading as an intern here.

    在實習的期間，我參與了彩繪牆壁藝術工作坊，這活動令我印象深刻是因為這是我第一次學塗油漆。這真的不容易，每一手每一劃都要顯現出效果，也同時得注意不要在牆上留下畫筆的刷痕；要上顏色時又是另一項挑戰，顏料的多寡、水份的拿捏、下筆的力道等等都會影響你畫出來的成品。

    During serving my internship, I take part in the wall-painting activity. It impresses me a lot, for it is my first time to white wash the walls and to paint colors on it. Every stroke you take must be efficient, and you need to be careful with the stains from your brush on the wall. It is another story to color the walls. The color materials you choose, the moisture in the brush and the force you put are all the factors you have to take into consideration while painting the walls.

    學了如何繪畫之後，館內另一項活動：兒童戲劇營，也令我印象深刻。我鮮少在舞台上表演、唱歌或是演戲等等，一開始先必須克服舞台恐懼，再來是要學著演繹各種動物的神情儀態，從中發掘表演的才能。我自己也克服了以上這些，說真的，表演藝術真的不容易，看到老師們這麼大方自然的演出真的好佩服。

    After the painting experience, we have a drama camp for children in the library. It is so memorable to me because I rarely perform on the stage, and in this camp I learn how to conquer the stage fright and how to portray the expressions from animals. It is not easy to perform on the stage, and I am so appreciated with the teachers there for their efforts to teach us acting in a play.

    館內除了紙本的閱讀，還設置了一台電子閱讀器。這台電子閱讀器透過網路可以閱讀中英文繪本故事，只要連結到Book Teller這網站，辦理會員帳號即可使用超過一百本中英文繪本故事。而我也有機會能在館內替小朋友們介紹還有導讀故事，小孩子無不深深注視著這台電子閱讀器，我希望小孩子都能有閱讀的習慣，這習慣會陪著他們一輩子，受用無窮。

    Aside from the paper reading, there is an e-book reading set. With the connection of the Internet, you can access to the storybooks written either in Chinese or in English as long as you log in the Book Teller under the membership. With a membership of Book Teller, you can read over one hundred storybooks in Chinese or English version. I am so grateful to have such a chance to read stories for the children. They are all absorbed in the e-book reading set. It is my sincere hope that every child has a habit of reading in lives.

    此外，在實習期間還碰上了館內評鑑，學了如何布置會議現場，也聽了許多專業人士給館內的建議，這些經歷都是前所未有的震撼，從簡單的排書上架、熟悉操作借還書系統到活動支援，這些都是寶貴的經驗，也讓我體驗了學校以外的真實世界。我希望以後學弟妹也能來這邊實習；我認為實習並不一定要找相關科系，你有興趣或是好奇的領域都能試試看，這樣才能拓展你的視野，增加自己的競爭力。

    In addition, we encounter the evaluation meeting for the library. We interns learn how to prepare for a meeting, from the previous setting to the after cleaning. We also hear numerous suggestions from the experts for the library to improve. All of these are brand-new and valuable for me: From how to check books under the system, how to rearrange book by its given code and how to support for a meeting. In my perspective, if permitted, I hope the students in my department come to this unique picture books library under the internship. It doesn’t necessary relate to your major for your internship; you just follow your instinct to guide you. In this harsh society, one can’t be competent without interdisciplinary knowledge.

    在實習的這段日子跟其他實習生以及館員就像是一家人一樣，彼此問候、照料。在這邊也學到團隊合作以及待人處事，這在職場上不可或缺的。在此，感謝斗六繪本圖書館以及館長提供實習的機會。

    During my internship, the librarians and we interns are like a family, taking good care of each other. Here in the library I come to grasp the concept of cooperation and greeting, and this is indispensable I think. I’d like       to express my sincere appreciation to the head of the library and to the librarians to offer the chance for internship. I am happy to be an intern here.
